Popular member Kerry Scorah was the first lady member to win the Simpson Shield last year. Kerry is going to compile future In the Spotlight features. She was recently married to comedy performer Mark Shortland and now lives in Northampton.

What started your interest in magic?
Being brought up watching Paul Daniels on the television. We used to watch it as a family every night it was on, I remember having a bit of a crush on Martin Daniels…

What type of magic do you enjoy?
I really enjoy performing close-up magic but I love watching the big illusions especially Zig-Zag lady and would love to be able to perform a big illusion show.

Favourite performers?
Paul Daniels, Steve Beam and recently Mark and I were lucky enough to go and see Siegfried and Roy in Las Vegas and they were wonderful.

Any other hobbies?
A bit sad really but I collect anything to do with The Wizard of Oz and Titanic and if you ever have half an hour to spare ask me about the conspiracy theory on Titanic!!!

What non-magical books do you enjoy reading?
I like autobiographies. I am currently reading Ulrika Jonsson’s Honest, and I have read the Harry Potter books umpteen times, they are just fantastic.

What has been the highlight of your magical life so far?
I have quite a few really. I suppose one of the highlights was meeting Mark!!! Also Paul Daniels sang to me, and another highlight was meeting Siegfried after his show in Las Vegas.

If you could have dinner with three people past or present who would they be?
Captain Smith (Captain of the Titanic), Judy Garland and Robbie Williams.
