Eddie Dawes reminded members that Tony Griffiths had visited the society nine years ago. He is a worldwide lecturer and performer notably at the Magic Castle. He also organises lecture tours by overseas magician, and the last three tours organised were by Harvey Berg, Aldo Colombini and Steve Beam and all been seen by HMC members. [Read More]

November 14 - Simpson Shield: Magic of the Mind

Malcolm Bromwich opened the competition with two slates that predicted a chosen Ace by producing the correct card. Richard Morrell performed Symbalance, an ESP effect where he found chosen symbols. Brian Wilson reminded us that Rex was cruising the high seas with his car cruise that finished on a predicted location. Rob Walls failed to find a chosen card several times in a row, but then showed the result was a telephone number where the answer machine came up with the correct card.
Domanic Li performed The Mockingbird, he shuffled and divided a deck into four piles, then invited a card to be chosen from any pile. Domanic found the mate without difficulty. Gordon Stowe attempted a similar feat. Arthur Setterington followed with a book-test, and when the top line of a chosen page was read out he could identify the page number. Alan Johnston asked for three numbers from the audience, that added up to Eddie Dawes phone number. Finally, Jonathan Gaines with Margaret Henriksen’s help was able to sense the hand that held one of two jewels repeatedly. [Read More]
